Put your hands together for Ishana’s Elastigirl, Akshatha Padar, this Mother’s Day

A hands-on mother, wife, a dutiful daughter, a foodie and a passionate recruitment manager, Akshatha Padar wears many hats on any given day. Akshatha’s life has become even more beautiful over the past five years, since her daughter, Ishana, was born. “ My proudest moment was when I first held Ishana in my arms and she was able to make out my voice and touch. She would stop crying the moment I would hold her. This journey has taught me so much - to appreciate the little things in life and the everyday moments such as going out, eating together and spending time with my daughter. It has also taught me to have my ‘me-time’ to reflect, relax and re-energize to get back on track. I have again become a student, an observer and a reflector now.”

It is this connect and ability to handle so many things that Akshatha’s daughter values and loves in her. “ We recently went to watch The Incredibles 2 and my daughter said that I was just like Elastigirl, the elastic-bodied super mom who saves the world while taking care of her three children. Another time, she drew my picture as a fairy with wings. These are very proud moments for me,” she says.  
 
‘You do not go to an office, but you are working for your office on your laptop from home. I can also do that.’
 
Ishana wants to be a superhero like her mother. “I want to take care of my baby the way you took care of me, cook yummy food for me, play with me, scold me, fight with me, watch movies together, help me do my homework, and so much more,” little Ishana says. Akshatha adds, “Once when I asked her whether she wanted to go to an office and work. Ishana replied, ‘You do not go to an office, but you are working for your office on your laptop from home. I can also do that.’ Her words surprised me!”

Her daughter has also supported Akshatha through tough times in life. “When Ishana was four, I was feeling a little low and was looking out to start a career. I tried getting into a full-time job and put my daughter at the day-care. However, things didn’t work out, as my daughter was not getting adjusted.” That was when her daughter asked not to be left at the daycare, and that Akshatha could continue working from home. “ She promised that she would not trouble me during work time. She also sought a promise from my end that I should be with her during my break times and after my work. My daughter has kept her word so far and FlexiBees has been instrumental in helping me maintain this balance in my life,” explains Akshatha.

As a mother, Akshatha believes that every child is different, and hence should never be compared with others. “Listen to your child, allow them to have choices as much as possible, give them importance, praise them when they do little things better. And take care of yourself,” is the advice that Akshatha has for mothers.  
 
Now, Askhatha makes it a point to be happy in front of Ishana. “ Children watch their parents, imitate and later imbibe their qualities. Hence, it is very important to lead the way as a parent.”

Akshatha also ensures that she spends quality time with her daughter, and Ishana, on her part, thinks her mom is the best momma in the world. “Because mamma always helps me. She hugs me, kisses me, helps me in my homework and plays with me,” beams the little girl.
